In 2017 the Caribbean region has been hit by several devastating hurricanes, with catastrophic consequences for Caricom states infrastructure, and, sadly, with loss of human life.
As we were informed by Saint Lucia based Hermes Bank, availability of its services was not interrupted by these circumstances.
The bank’s IT infrastructure was designed as multi-site, geographically stretched highly available system. All of Hermes Bank’s in-house systems are deployed at least two independent locations within the EU. The infrastructure leverages the power of its own content delivery network and load balancing to create a robust and safe solution.
All of this provides customers with reliable and uninterrupted service even under most severe circumstances, including hurricanes, long-period power cuts and unstable internet connection.
Hermes Bank also noted, that all of it’s non-key employees were encouraged to stay at home during government-issued hurricane/storm warnings.
