uBack

, a minority, women-led fintech startup based in Charlotte, has partnered with

Bank of America

to combine mobile banking with mobile giving. The partnership will allow Bank of America's 24 million mobile banking customers to donate to more than 800,000 nonprofits directly through the bank's mobile banking app.

The partnership came about through Bank of America's focus on improving the financial lives of its customers by understanding their life priorities, including giving back, particularly during the holiday season. The bank chose uBack to help its customers give back faster and easier, through a seamless integration with Bank of America's existing mobile platform.

"uBack was created because we believed that technology could make it easier than ever for people to change the world. Now, thanks to our powerful partnership with Bank of America, more than 24 million people will be able to leverage that technology and make a profound impact — right from their phones," said Melissa Bodford, co-founder and CEO of uBack.

Bank of America mobile banking customers will be able to use uBack's technology beginning Nov. 21, in time for its customers to support Giving Tuesday, the national day of giving on November 28, and through Dec. 31 "One of our customers' top priorities during the holiday season is giving back to their communities and favorite charities," said Michelle Moore, head of Digital Banking at Bank of America. "That's why we're making it more convenient for them to make donations through mobile banking while they're managing their financial lives." Here's how the uBack technology works: Bank of America will feature uBack ads in its Mobile Banking experience. When customers click the ads, they will be redirected to the uBack donation portal, where they can search for their favorite charity from uBack's database of over 800,000 Charity Navigator-rated nonprofits and donate in just a few clicks. "Research shows that customers increasingly want to do business with companies committed to community impact. Our partnership with Bank of America highlights their overall commitment to giving back in local communities by making it easier for their customers to donate to causes they care about," Bodford said. "uBack builds technology to facilitate that."
