Q: What does your firm do/offer within the fintech sector?

A: Today, every area of the fintech industry is being disrupted. New products, services and ideas are coming out of all types of companies, from new startups to large legacy institutions. Many of these players are disrupting the relationship investors and customers have with their financial institutions. However regulatory compliance within financial services is still required and without the proper compliance to changing regulations from regulatory bodies like the SEC and ESMA, businesses cannot continue. What DFIN does is gives customers the technology and data insights, coupled with deep industry expertise, that comes with being largest SEC filer, to meet their regulatory and compliance needs.

Q: What is your role within your firm and what do you do there on any given day?

A: As DFIN’s chief product officer, I strive each and every day to lead the company’s product innovation, conception and development priorities. Everything I do revolves around building products that solve critical customer challenges, encouraging and fostering innovation needed to grow our cloud solutions.

Q: How do you feel businesses are adapting to the facet of fintech that your company operates within?

A: The financial services industry has historically been risk-averse – but there’s no doubt that businesses are feeling the effects of digital transformation powered by cloud-based platforms. Digital platforms are now opening doors for start-ups and innovators within larger companies to take more risks and provide new solutions for customers. The key to these new, tech-forward solutions, however, is to be able to provide cutting-edge technology that combines business value and useability, rather than simply chasing the next buzzword – a tough, but necessary balance.

As innovation and disruption is abound, the realities of regulatory requirements and commitments that both public and private companies face cannot be underestimated. Global markets never stand still, so it’s imperative to always anticipate what comes next on the digital front. It’s a thrill to be part of the ongoing evolution in this dynamic fintech space.
