What area/s of fintech do you believe will grow the most in the coming 5 years?

The retail touchpoints will change completely. For the consumer, the in store experience will be very different, especially for payments/check-out. Checkouts will no longer be driven by lines and traditional POS. It will be driven by things like proximity and consumer initiation so they can pay and leave when they are ready wherever they happen to be in store.

What are the biggest problems facing the fintech industry in the future?

Companies trying to leverage old infrastructure vs rethinking what the retail experience can be. We’ve seen this to some degree with merchants grappling with legacy POS equipment that no longer serves their needs or that of their consumer.

How do you feel consumers are adapting to the facet of fintech that your company operates within?

Order and pay via mobile has been adopted widely and we’ve found that once a consumer can order and pay in advance and skip the line completely, they never go back to standing in lines again. This means that even though mobile order and pay is becoming a huge trend in QSRs and other restaurants, consumers will start expecting that level of convenience in all areas of their lives. And they’ll want and expect that everything that’s relevant to them for a given merchant, whether its offers, gift cards or loyalty programs, be baked into a seamless experience.
